About Me, Amy McDonald, LPC, Certified Sex Therapist

Hello, I'm Amy McDonald, a Licensed Professional Counselor and  Certified Sex Therapist practicing with Reclaiming Futures Counseling in Midland, MI. My counseling journey is rooted in a passion for serving the community, advocating for mental and sexual health, and creating spaces for empowerment.

With a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University, a master's from Spring Arbor University, and post-graduate certification in Sex Therapy from the University of Michigan, my education forms the bedrock of my practice. Whether facilitating support groups or counseling individuals and couples, my goal is to foster healing, self-discovery, and an embracing of one's authentic self.

I have had the privilege of contributing to the community first with Family and Children's Services, where I initiated the Compass Support Group, fostering mental health awareness for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Later, as the Director of Counseling at Shelterhouse, I founded the Intersections Group, providing crucial support for LGBTQIA+ teens and adults, and the Body + Mind Connection where, as a Certifed Sex Therapist, I supported women who have experienced sexual trauma with becoming more empowered and embodied.

Now, as part of the Reclaiming Futures Counseling team, I bring this wealth of experience and commitment to supporting you on your unique journey. Let's navigate your path toward well-being and empowerment together.
